Adventurous? Try out Kayaking…
Kayaking is one of the best things you can do in water, be it a lake, river, waterfalls and even the sea.
It is best way to get close to nature, paddling around in the water bodies and surrendering yourself in the beauty of the nature.
Check out these important tips you must know about kayaking before you indulge in this breathtaking activity.
- Kayak –
Kayaks come in different shapes and designs depending upon the material used to build it. These are built for specific environments like whitewater kayaks, surf kayaks, touring kayaks, racing kayaks and hybrid. Sit-on-tops kayaks are ideal for beginners because they are stable and easy to get in and out of.
- Getting in and out of a kayak –
This can be awkward and tough but the best way is to keep your weight low and centered.
When you’re getting inside hold on to the edge of the dock while putting your feet inside, continue stabilizing yourself by grabbing onto the edge and lowering yourself into the kayak.
Do the same thing in reverse to come out of the Kayak.
- Kayak paddles –
Kayaks use two-bladed paddles and they can hold one to three paddlers. Choose a paddle depending on your stature, size of the kayak, and stroking preferences.
Wider blades provide more acceleration but are also resistant while narrow blades use less effort per stroke but need more strokes.
- Paddling techniques –
Settle down comfortably in your kayak, keep the boat stable and then begin paddling. Grip onto the paddle with your hands over and thumbs under.
Stroke deeply and evenly using the power of your torso.
